Terra Indochina

Terra Indochina Travel is a destination management company founded in 2001 and headquartered in Hanoi, with offices in Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, Siem Reap and Bangkok. It works with tour operators and travel partners worldwide, designing tailor-made itineraries for individuals and groups across Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, alongside SIC tours with guaranteed departures, thematic programmes, fixed-departure series and MICE. Beyond the classic highlights, the team builds off-the-beaten-path experiences such as trekking, cycling and homestays. Partners are served in six languages, including Portuguese, with replies within 24 hours, 24/7 on-the-ground support and in-house guides.

  • Experience: Founded in 2001, with 25 years operating in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand for tour operators and travel partners worldwide.
  • Local offices: Head office in Hanoi, plus offices in Hue (central Vietnam), Ho Chi Minh City (southern Vietnam), Siem Reap (Cambodia) and Bangkok (Thailand).
  • Products: Tailor-made travel for individuals and groups (core expertise), SIC tours with guaranteed departures, thematic programmes (cultural, culinary, family, honeymoon, luxury, active, beach), fixed-departure group series and MICE.
  • Off the beaten path: Rooted in adventure travel, with trekking, hiking, cycling, homestays and culturally immersive activities beyond the classic highlights.
  • Service: Consultant and customer-care teams in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese; replies within 24 hours and 24/7 on-the-ground support.
  • Guides: Full-time in-house guides, complemented by a large network of freelance guides.
  • Sustainability: Community Fund supporting ethnic communities in northern Vietnam since 2014, participation in Travelife for Tour Operators and the ChildSafe Movement, plus an ecolodge chain in Vietnam and beach holiday products.
  • Currency: Vietnamese dong (VND) in Vietnam; Cambodian riel (KHR) in Cambodia, where US dollars are widely used; Lao kip (LAK) in Laos; Thai baht (THB) in Thailand.
  • Languages: Vietnamese, Khmer, Lao and Thai; English is widely used in tourism. Terra Indochina has a Portuguese-speaking consultant team.
  • Visas for Brazilians: Vietnam requires a visa, available as an e-visa applied for online before travel; Thailand is visa-exempt for Brazilian tourists; Cambodia and Laos offer e-visas or visas on arrival. Since June 2026, Vietnam also requires the online QR Pre-Arrival Form at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Phu Quoc airports. Check current visa rules before travel.
  • Climate: Tropical monsoon. November to April is the dry season across most of the region, and May to October brings the rains. Northern Vietnam has a cool winter (December to February), and the central coast (Hue, Hoi An) is wettest from around September to December.
  • Health: Travellers coming from Brazil should carry the International Certificate of Vaccination against yellow fever, which may be requested on arrival (notably in Thailand). Use mosquito repellent, drink bottled water and take travel insurance; consult a travel clinic before departure.

There are no direct flights from Brazil. The most common routes involve one or two stopovers, often in Doha, Dubai, Istanbul or a major European hub.

  • Flight time: From São Paulo to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Bangkok typically takes around 24-30 hours depending on stopovers.
  • Main airports: Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Da Nang (DAD) in Vietnam; Siem Reap (SAI) and Phnom Penh in Cambodia; Luang Prabang (LPQ) and Vientiane (VTE) in Laos; Bangkok (BKK) in Thailand.
  • Multi-country trips: Short regional flights link the four countries, so itineraries can arrive in one city (e.g. Hanoi) and depart from another (e.g. Ho Chi Minh City or Bangkok) without backtracking.
